Planning chief claims he was hit
A Jersey politician is considering what action to take after claims he was punched by another States member.

Senator Phillip Ozouf told the BBC that Senator Ted Vibert punched and verbally abused him in the States building on Tuesday afternoon.

He says he is taking legal advice and is considering whether to report the matter to the police.

Mr Vibert denied punching Mr Ozouf, but admitted he called him a "slimeball" in the States Assembly building.

He said Mr Ozouf had called him "a disgrace to Jersey politics".

Controversial allegations

A man taking lunch for States members into the building told BBC Radio Jersey he saw Mr Vibert go to punch planning president Mr Ozouf.

Luis Gouveia from Simple Simons says he saw "the older man go to punch him, but the younger man avoided it".

He said the two men had come out of the room next door to the dining room and were "shouting in loud voices," before it happened.

The alleged attack happened during a four hour debate which ended in States members asking Mr Vibert to remove controversial allegations about managers at Jersey's financial regulator from his website.
