Calls have been made for allegations on a website about members of Jersey's financial regulator to be withdrawn. Comments appeared on Senator Ted Vibert's website about two senior members of the Jersey Financial Services Commission.
They relate to their personal conduct and to the purchase of a house. Both commission members deny wrong-doing.
Senator Vibert told the States on Tuesday that he had evidence supporting the allegations.
Right of reply
Senator Vibert made comments about the Director General of the Jersey Financial Services Commission, David Carse, and his deputy, Helen Hatton.
The president of Economic Development, Deputy Gerald Voisin, has asked for them to be removed.
In a statement to the States, Deputy Gerald Voisin said evidence has been given to the committee to show the allegations are false and without grounding.
He said he deplored Senator Vibert's behaviour and would like the comments to be withdrawn, asking the States to support that.
Senator Vibert asked for the statement not to be read out or permitted in the States because he was not given a right of reply.
The statement was allowed. Senator Vibert was given a chance to speak after it.
He said: "If the deputy wishes to do something about it, he should bring a vote of censure which allows me to put forward my evidence before this house."
