A Jersey States member has been formally told to remove remarks from his website made about two staff at Jersey's Financial Services Commission. The comments relate to their personal conduct and to the purchase of a house. Both commission members deny wrong-doing.
The Economic Development Committee has asked the States to agree to the measures against Senator Ted Vibert.
The proposition will be discussed at a meeting on 5 April.
Committee President, Deputy Gerald Voisin, says Senator Vibert's behaviour is unacceptable and damages not only the people concerned but Jersey's name and reputation.
But Senator Vibert says he should be allowed his freedom of speech.
