Two-thirds of the island's schools are in St Saviour |
There is concern that ongoing roadworks will cause traffic disruption as term starts for most of Jersey's schools. St Martins Road where there is work to update water mains is one of the main routes for parents and children heading for St Saviour.
The Constable of St Saviour, Phillip Ozouf, is concerned the work will cause tailbacks as parents fill the roads.
He said the problems are caused as many of the journeys start within half an hour of each other.
Figures from St Saviour's Parish Hall estimate about 8,000 journeys towards schools and colleges take place every day during term time.
Two-thirds of the island's schools are in the parish and most of them start the new term on Tuesday.
