 Rockhopper claims landing dues could go up by about 30% |
The cost of flying between Jersey and the other Channel Islands could rise dramatically, according to an airline. Rockhopper, the newest airline to use Jersey Airport, claims islanders will soon have to pay more for flights to Guernsey and Alderney.
The company, which competes with Aurigny on the inter-island routes, claims the price will rise further because of increased landing dues.
It says landing dues are likely to go up by about 30%.
The airline says it plans to keep lobbying Jersey's Harbours and Airport Committee over the issue.
However, committee president Senator Len Norman says it is committed to ensuring all airlines pay the same dues for the services they enjoy at the airport.
Until recently the committee subsidised all inter-island flights with a hefty discount on landing dues.
