Island hoppers get more flights
There are more winter flights now on offer for people flying between Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney.

The Channel Islands' newest airline, Rockhopper, is offering up to eight flights a day between Jersey and Guernsey from 22 September.

The company, which used to be known as Le Cocqs, is trying to develop a "bus stop" service between the two islands, with a return flight costing about 50.

Islanders can also travel to Alderney twice a day on Saturday.

Rockhopper is competing with the Guernsey States-owned airline Aurigny Air Services between the islands.

Aurigny is leasing two extra planes at a cost of more than 5m.

Two ATR 42s will enter service on Tuesday, with one operating on the Gatwick route and providing additional capacity at weekends on the Manchester route, with the other providing back up.

The firm said the planes were essential to deliver a reliable service.
