Row over islands' airlinks
Le Cocqs aircraft
Le Cocqs says it wants to provide better prices
A Channel Island airline is arguing a competing firm might not be committed to providing a sustainable long-term link between Guernsey and Jersey.

Le Cocqs Airlink is putting in a bid to fly between the two islands, and it says it is time to end what it says is the monopoly held by Aurigny.

Le Cocqs chairman Noel Hayes says he hopes to give a more competitive airfare price for Channel Islanders on a daily service between the two islands.

However, Aurigny Managing Director Malcolm Hart has warned Le Cocqs might not intend to service the route for the whole year.

Noel Hayes is meeting Guernsey's Transport Authorities on Tuesday to give his reasons for a bid to fly between the Islands.

He says the price of flying between Jersey and Guernsey will be reduced if there is another airline on the route.

Malcolm Hart said he did not know that Le Cocqs Airlink was asking the Guernsey Transport Board for a daily licence to operate the route and said Aurigny is committed to improving airlinks for Channel Islanders.
