Alderney Airport 'just not good enough'
Alderney Airport
The terminal currently only has enough seating for 50 people
Visitors to Alderney may be put off returning to the island unless something is done about the airport terminal, according to business leaders.

While many airline operators have reported a drop in passenger numbers, Alderney has seen an increase.

But the airport currently holds enough seating for only 50 people and when flights are delayed, there can be double that number of passengers waiting on flights out of the island.

Tony le Blanc, vice president of Alderney's Chamber of Commerce, said it was "just not good enough".

If a couple of flights were delayed, it posed a problem for passengers and may stop them returning to the island.

He said: "We consider that the current capacity for passengers is totally inadequate.

"We have done some calculations and if a couple of flights get delayed, you could well have 120 people at the airport fighting for 50 seats."
