Blackspot repairs completed early
Windy corner
The work will finish three weeks ahead of schedule
Roadworks to improve an accident blackspot on the Isle of Man are on schedule to finish ahead of time.

Good weather and less traffic over the Mountain Road during the improvement works, means that Brandish Corner could be fully open by this weekend.

Police have recorded 29 accidents at the Brandish corner location in the last three years.

The improvements at the bend will also shorten the TT course by 65ft (20m) and cut lap times for Grand Prix drivers.

Motorists driving too fast and the road layout at Brandish, are believed to be the main causes of previous accidents.

"A topographical survey revealed that the width of the road and the bend fell well below recommended standards, which caused some vehicles to drift across the road into oncoming traffic," said roadworks engineer Jim Davidson.

"A major improvement scheme was required to meet design standards, and reduce the number of accidents," he added.
