Road closed for 'essential work'
Essential road improvements to an Isle of Man accident blackspot are set to cost about 200,000.

The section of the Mountain Road known locally as Windy Corner is to be widened and the curve smoothed out.

It means closing the stretch from the Brandywell Road junction to the Creg-ny-Baa back road junction from 6 March until the end of April.

Bruce Hannay, Director of Highways, said closing the section of the road completely was the only option.

"By closing the road we can get these works done much quicker as well as safer," said Mr Hannay.

The Department of Transport is hoping to avoid any works on other roads in the area while the work is carried out.
