Phased-in smoking ban ruled out
Guernsey States have stubbed out calls for a gradual introduction of a smoking ban in the island.

Guernsey Licensed Victuallers Association put forward the compromise option to phase in a partial ban over three years.

Later this month deputies will be asked to ban lighting up in enclosed public places, including pubs.

Exemptions include prison cells, nursing homes, psychiatric hospitals and designated hotel rooms.
