Group calls for total smoking ban
Cigarette over ashtray
GASP claims any exemptions to the ban would be wrong
An anti-smoking group in Guernsey has urged the States to remain firm in its plan to end smoking in pubs.

The comments from Gasp come after States deputy Dave Jones said he intends to call for some pubs to be exempt from a ban.

Deputies are due to debate the details of a ban on smoking in enclosed public places later this month, including where smoking will be allowed.

But Gasp said a complete ban is the only workable solution.

Chairman Alum Williams claims if some pubs were exempt, it would be going back on the spirit of what has already been agreed.

He believes anything short of a total ban would send the wrong message to children.
