Call for gradual no-smoking ban
Pub landlords are hoping Guernsey deputies will support calls for a staggered introduction of a smoking ban in public places.

The States agreed to outlaw smoking in enclosed public places last year, but have yet to decide the fine details.

The Guernsey Licensed Victuallers Association said there was support for a three-year staggering of the ban.

Carrie Self, licensee of the Victoria Arms, thinks people would rather stay at home than stand around outside.

She said: "My customers have already said they won't come out in the winter months when they can sit at home, open a can of beer and smoke, so down goes my trade."
