Waste site secured for 10 years
The future of Longue Hougue as a reclamation site in Guernsey has been secured for the next decade.

States members have voted to continue using the site for dumping rubbish such as concrete, stone and earth.

The site is expected to be filled by 2015, which is sooner than expected and will mean a loss of private boat moorings in the area.

But Deputy Graham Guille believes the sacrifice is worth it and it will benefit small companies and businesses.

He said: "The winners will be the light industry, the self-employed, the people who used to be the bedrock of our economy."
