Waste survey proving the business
Businesses in Guernsey are being asked to take part in a survey to help shape the island's future waste strategy.

The government hopes more than 600 companies will respond to an online survey set by the Environment Department and Chamber of Commerce.

It will ask what firms currently do to recycle waste and establish what initiatives could improve recycling.

With space at the Mont Cuet tip running out, the States wants alternative ways of dealing with rubbish.

Although the survey is aiming for 600 respondents, Environment Minister Bernard Flouquet said he wanted as many businesses as possible to take part.

He said: "The data is going to be invaluable to us to decide future policies and how the commercial side is going to play a part in the recycling issues that we are bringing forward next year.

"There are things that companies can specifically help with, like the recycling of cardboard, for instance. And whatever we can glean from the data will be taken on board."
