Recycle depot open for businesses
Businesses in Guernsey are being encouraged to cut down on bulk waste by taking advantage of a new glass recycling initiative.

The States' Bulwer Avenue depot is being opened for commercial use for the first time.

It is hoped pubs and restaurants will have their glass sent for recycling rather than being put in landfill.

Environmental Services said planned increases in tip charges should make it an attractive option.

A review of Guernsey's waste strategy earlier in the year recommended that landfill charges should be increased from about 60 a tonne to more than 100.
