Petition started for post office
Residents in part of Guernsey are calling for a local post office to be kept open.

People in L'Islet are opposing moves which have been put forward to shut the post office at Sandy Hook.

Guernsey Post is planning to close the branch to save money. A month-long consultation process has now begun.

A petition has been started by those who are opposed to the move. Its organisers are asking islanders to express their views on the plans.

Earlier this week Guernsey Post announced losses of 800,000.

It said the L'Islet outlet had been losing money and that closing it would save at least 30,000 a year.
