Christmas post rate ends
Letter being posted
Guernsey Post has been dealing with record levels of mail
Guernsey Post is warning people that the period of grace for mail posted with a 10 pence stamp will soon end.

The discounted postage period officially ended on Monday.

Company Managing Director Mike Hall said while mail carrying 10 pence stamps will continue to be processed on Wednesday, a stricter line will be taken from Thursday onwards.

All local mail under 100 grams now needs to carry a 22 pence stamp.

Post levels

On Tuesday, Guernsey Post said it had learnt from past mistakes and it was coping well in the run-up to Christmas.

The company was severely criticised in a report from the Office of Utility Regulation when mail was severely delayed last Christmas.

It has delivered more than 2,000,000 pieces of mail this December alone.

But despite dealing with record levels this Christmas, company operations director Joe Domican said everything was running "absolutely perfectly".
