New group to 'work with States'
General view of Alderney
The results of the survey will be made available to the States
A campaign group in Alderney is working to reassure local people that it wants to work with the island's government, and not against it.

Vision Alderney was set up earlier this year to try and draft a blueprint for the island's future.

Some residents have asked whether the new group would make a good alternative to the current system of government.

Group chairman Richard Wilmot, who is also a States member, was quick to quash such speculation.

Engage people

He said the group wanted to work with the government, and hoped its activities would be well received.

Vision Alderney was set up to engage more people in the island's politics.

It has put together a survey to be distributed to households this month to give people a chance to say what they want on the island, to help inform policy and debate.

Three politicians have quit the States this year, and one of them, Chris Main, is involved with Vision Alderney.
