More problems for new car ferry
HD ferry
More than 200 passengers travelled on the maiden voyage
A new Channel Island car ferry service to France has been hit by a second day of technical problems.

HD Ferries' maiden voyage on Thursday was delayed after the ferry encountered engine failures.

On Friday, the firm had to cancel the Jersey and Guernsey crossing to St Malo due to "operational reasons".

Passengers for Jersey were transferred to the Condor Clipper crossing. St Malo travellers were offered a refund or could transfer to Saturday's service.

More than 200 passengers set off on the delayed service from St Helier on Thursday.

The twice-daily service from Jersey and one crossing a day from Guernsey is running from March to September.

The company announced three months ago it was starting a service to France.
