Island sees record electoral roll

Online registrations for the roll will be taken until January 2004
More residents in Guernsey have registered with the electoral roll this year, compared with the old listings.

Although the Have your Say campaign, which encouraged islanders to vote to have a stake in Guernsey politics, has finished, people can still register.

So far, more than 29,000 people on the island have applied to be included on the list. The old register had approximately 25,900 names.

The roll remains open for new entries for another three months.

Forms are still available from the various parish offices, Sir Charles Frossard House and the Greffe.

Online registrations will be taken until the end of January 2004.

The assistant registrar general of electors, Liz Dene, said she was delighted with the response, and especially the trial of online registration.
