Electoral roll breaks records
Ballot box
There are still two weeks for people to register on the electoral roll
The sign-up to Guernsey's new electoral roll has broken all records.

More than 60% of islanders eligible to register have now added their names to the list, which has exceeded the number on the old record.

St Peter's is the best represented, with more than 70% of those eligible to vote having put forward their names.

The worst is St Peter Port, where less than 49% of parishioners have added their names to the roll.

Enthusiastic response

Some 27,191 people have now signed up to the electoral roll. That is 1,200 more than the old register.

People in the Castel have not been as enthusiastic about signing up for this roll as the last, with subscription down some 7%.

The Assistant Registrar General of Electors, Liz Dene, said she was delighted with the response, and especially a trial of online registration.

But those who have not registered to vote as yet have not missed out on the chance, as there are still two weeks left to sign up.
