A hosepipe ban has reduced demand by 25% |
Jersey's hose pipe ban has been lifted. From 1800 BST on Friday islanders will be able to use hosepipes and pressure cleaners.
In July, prolonged dry weather forced the Jersey Waterworks Company to impose a ban on using water for non-essential purposes.
Since then it has been illegal to use hosepipes to water gardens and clean cars.
But recent rainfall means the ban can now be lifted.
The water company has thanked its customers for their co-operation, which it estimates consumption has been reduced by 80m gallons.
The desalination plant will be switched off on Monday after twelve weeks in operation.
