Water plans to be revealed

Jersey recently went two weeks without rain
Jersey's water company is due to send letters to parish constables and the Public Services Committee on Wednesday detailing its plans for conserving water for the rest of this year.

Until now, islanders have been asked to save water voluntarily because prolonged dry weather has depleted reservoirs.

Earlier this month, the Jersey New Waterworks Company asked islanders to be careful not to waste water.

Jersey was on the brink of an official drought after going two weeks without rain.

Thunderstorms relieved some of the pressure but even then the water company warned it might not be enough to avoid a hosepipe ban.

An announcement is expected on Wednesday on the steps being taken to conserve water supplies.
