Mr Jordan thinks there should be health warnings on alcohol |
The manager of a Jersey centre for alcoholics says it is too easy for young people to get alcohol.Barry Jordan from the Jersey Council on Alcoholism claims more needs to be done to prevent under age drinking in the Island.
The group has been given 20,000 of lottery money to improve facilities.
Mr Jordan says progress has been made tackling rates of alcoholism on the island - which is twice as high as it is in the UK.
Alcohol abuse
But he is worried about growing numbers of young people drinking.
"I see no reason for example why bottles and cans and containers of alcohol shouldn't have a health warning on them, cigarettes do," said Mr Jordan.
"I think some of the revenue from taxing alcohol should be used directly to support the agencies who help people who have problems with alcohol abuse."
