A survey of Guernsey youngsters shows a worrying number of them drink alcohol regularly. A third health-related behaviour survey was carried out by the Education Council and Health Promotion Unit.
It gave generally positive results, but it showed a worrying number of 10 and 11-year-olds were consuming a lot of alcohol.
Guernsey Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council director Dave Newman said it highlighted some concerns relating to Year Six pupils.
But he said the results concerning teenagers and alcohol consumption were not a big surprise.
"Some teenagers are drinking too regularly, even at that age, but that's an age where a lot of children experiment with alcohol, whether with or without their parents' guidance or control.
"But where we go younger than that with ages of 10 and 11, around 16% reported they are drinking more than three times a week and that is worrying."
