New chief for waterfront board
Waterfront development
Mr Margason said the waterfront is just one part of a wider plan
The new managing director of one of Jersey's most controversial ventures has been named.

David Margason will take over from John Scally as managing director of the Waterfront Enterprise Board (WEB) during one of its most difficult periods.

WEB has been dogged by controversy since it was created to provide homes and leisure facilities on St Helier's foreshore.

And during the senatorial by-election allegations emerged that WEB had been involved in rows with the Planning Committee over the design of buildings on the site.

Wider plan

Plans for a 2.5m pedestrian bridge and whether it should be built linking the development to St Helier have also provoked much debate.

Mr Margason, a civil engineer with experience of regeneration projects, said he is aware of the comment WEB's developments have provoked.

But he said the waterfront is just one part of a wider plan and he hopes islanders will reserve judgment on the development until it is finished.
