Deputy still keen on bridge
Artist's impression of the waterfront bridge
Deputy Dubras said the matter will have to be discussed again
Jersey's Environment and Public Services President has refused to rule out a bridge on the waterfront, despite a telephone poll of islanders rejecting it.

56% of those polled said they did not want the bridge, compared to 34% in favour.

The Waterfront Enterprise Board (WEB) has now asked planning to let it drop the scheme from its plans.

But Deputy Maurice Dubras, whose committee has taken over responsibility for planning, said it is not the end of the matter.

'Real consultation'

He has said he would like to see a bridge, and it will now have to be discussed again.

"As a proponent of real consultation and working with people and listening to what people have to say, of course I am going to," said Deputy Dubras.

"I am sure my committee will take that into consideration, it has certainly got to be a strong piece of evidence that has got to be taken into consideration."
