LaBeouf escapes accident charges

As well as Indiana Jones, LaBeouf also starred in last year's Transformers

Shia LaBeouf will not be charged with drink-driving after he was involved in a car accident in Los Angeles.

But the Indiana Jones star's licence could still be suspended because he refused a breathalyser test at the time, sheriff's officials said.

"Shia is most happy that he will not have to go to court," said his lawyer, Michael Norris.

The 22-year-old, who was hurt in the collision caused by another driver, was arrested after the incident in July.

'Crushed'

County District Attorney spokeswoman Jane Robison said there was "insufficient evidence" to charge Mr LaBeouf with drink-driving.

She added prosecutors were considering charges against two other people involved in the crash.

In August Mr Norris revealed the Transformers star's left hand was "crushed" in the accident, meaning he had to undergo a four-hour operation.

Now Mr LaBeouf faces a traffic hearing that could see his licence suspended for up to nine months.

But Mr Norris said he doubted his client has anything to worry about.

"I anticipate that once we do have the opportunity to litigate the matter that his licence will not be suspended," he said.

Days after the collision, detectives have established the other driver involved in the accident passed through a red light.

Mr LaBeouf played Mutt Williams alongside Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
