Indiana Jones star Shia LaBeouf has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after an accident in Hollywood.

LaBeouf's pick-up truck crashed into another vehicle in the early hours of Sunday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

Officers arrested him at the scene. He was later booked for a misdemeanour and taken for medical treatment.

Police said the 22-year-old was being treated for injuries to his hand and a knee, as well as a minor head injury.

The incident took place at 0300 local time (1000 GMT).

"It was immediately apparent to officers responding on the scene that LaBeouf was intoxicated and he was subsequently placed under arrest," Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt Scott Wolf told AP news agency.

'Bad habit'

The actor recently starred in Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, alongside Harrison Ford.

He also starred in the recent Transformers movie.

Last November he was arrested for refusing to leave a pharmacy in Chicago, blaming the incident on "complete and utter insanity". Charges were later dropped.

He later told chat show host David Letterman: "Drinking and driving is one thing, but drinking and shopping - it's just as bad."

In April, charges against him for breaking a smoking ban were dismissed by a Californian judge.
