LaBeouf 'not at fault' for crash

Shia LaBeouf
As well as Indiana Jones, LaBeouf also starred in last year's Transformers

Indiana Jones star Shia LaBeouf was "not at fault" for a road accident but is still being investigated for alleged drink-driving, police have said.

The 22-year-old was arrested in Los Angeles the early hours of Sunday, having suffered head, knee and hand injuries in the crash.

Detectives have established that the other driver involved in the accident passed through a red light.

Mr LaBeouf's pick-up truck rolled over as a result of the collision.

Sergeant Scott Wolf of Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said it was "immediately apparent" to officers on the scene that Mr LaBeouf was intoxicated.

The actor had to have surgery on his left hand but plans to return to work on the Transformers sequel within a month, according to his publicist.

'Embarrassed'

In March, Mr LaBeouf faced court action for breaking a smoking ban but a month later the charge was dismissed.

And Mr LaBeouf has admitted to being "completely embarrassed" after being arrested for refusing to leave a branch of a pharmacy chain in Chicago last year.

The charges were dropped a month later after the chain decided to take no further action.

Mr LaBeouf recently starred in Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, alongside Harrison Ford.

His latest film Eagle Eye, which reunites the actor with Disturbia director DJ Caruso, is out on 26 September in the US and 17 October in the UK.
