Real name is Andwele Gardner. He started writing songs aged 10, after his dad was shot outside their home. His debut album was Subject (2003) which was an underground success in Europe. Second album is Some Kinda (2005). Dwele named the album Some Kinda after "the song on the album that meant the most to me. I had a chance to write about my family and showcase my younger brother." He's been playing trumpet and piano since he was 10. "Ikea is the best thing in the world… I love it. I like their stuff 'cause it's cheap, it's real artsy and real hip."
