Corinne Bailey Rae Like a Star (live)
"He said, 'You sounded really good, fabulous!' and I was speechless, just squeaking! Afterwards I thought, God I should have said something. But what do you say to Burt Bacharach?"
Corinne was brought up in Leeds.
As a teenager she was lead singer and guitarist for the girl-led indie band, Helen.
Corinne has a degree in English literature.
She got married to a saxophone player four years ago when she was 22.
TV show Later with Jools booked her before she even had a track out.
She says her song, Camille, "is about the healing power of music, how you can sing things or hear things and let the music wash you, it's very cleansing. That is the sound of soul music."
Corinne worked with the Artful Dodger.
She likes the bands Magic Numbers, Bloc Party and Veruca Salt.Corinne Bailey Rae links: Corinne galleryOfficial websiteManchester Online: watch videoThe BBC is not responsible for the content of external websites |
