Lloyds TSB is in advanced merger talks with HBOS. We asked HBOS customers in Edinburgh for their views.

Jim Smith, 50, an Edinburgh businessman, said he thought the merger would be "beneficial".

"I'm not taking my money out but my father is.

"He is worried, as is my partner who is taking out �20,000 from her account."
