Humans are changing the environment in such a way that many species are going extinct. When an animal species dies out, its genome - which holds volumes of information - is lost too.

The Frozen Ark project hopes to avoid this loss by freezing tissue from endangered species. That way, even if they go extinct, science can keep a record of their genes.
