"India Poised" - a tour of 'Silicon Valley' | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
My reporting duties for India Rising have brought me to Bangalore, India's 'Silicon Valley' and the heart of the country's IT boom. It is a hugely prosperous city with impressive architecture and a thriving consumer economy.
Today's India is an invigorating and exciting place to be. The 'India Poised' campaign being run by a national newspaper is reflecting the confidence and feel-good factor that the country is basking in.
Infosys Technologies is one of India's technology giants, this pyramid is part of the vast complex that houses the headquarters on 80 acres of land.
A fantastic array of facilities is available - like this conference room.
Me outside the Infosys Technologies corporate building in Electronics city.
The grounds of this corporation are so extensive that bicycles and carts are provided to get around. Pick one up at a bike station and leave it another.
Brigade Road - one of the happening spots around town.
Bangalore's IT boom fuels a construction boom. This tower is one of many springing up along the city's skyline.
Modernity still accommodates more traditional sights like this colourful fruitcart, propelled along on bicycle wheels.
Cows are revered in Hindu culture, and they can occasionally be seen around town.
A shady spot at Lalbagh Rock - the best satellite signal in town. |
