Welcome again to my India, which gets more and more incredible the more that I see of it. These are some photos of what I've seen so far.
I worked up quite a thirst walking around Delhi, so was glad to see this man was selling juice. He would brew it from leaves there and then, squeeze some lime into it, and in the hot burning sun, people buy and drink it like cola. Passers-by encouraged me to try it.
The non-motorised traditional style rickshaws vie for roadspace in downtown Delhi.
India's colourful cloths in a shop in Delhi. Outfits are known as punjabis and saris.
Indian women enhance their beauty with adornments, the most famous adornment is the bindi dot worn on the forehead, but many women also use a henna dye to decorate the back of their hands and wrists.
It took me three days to see a single black man. So when two African students came to visit us at our hotel, a photo opportunity was not squandered. They are both Kenyans and studying in Delhi.
Motorised rickshaws are ubiquitous. I arrived in Mumbai and the tricycle cars were everywhere - like termites after their mound has just been demolished.
I even tried one myself and it was cool, although my heart was in my mouth as the driver drove like he was rushing to save a life.
An onion seller in Mumbai ekes out a living, while just a few metres away, others have millions of dollars. |
