If the return to work and school after the festive break wasn't tough enough, more snowfall overnight meant Monday's commute was even trickier for large parts of the UK.

Parts of northern Scotland were reporting over 50cm (20in) of lying snow, with drifting snow even deeper.

As temperatures dropped well below freezing again in most parts of the UK, icy conditions were an added challenge.

Despite the blocked roads, rail lines closures, cancelled flights and schools shut, BBC Weather Watchers have been out capturing the beauty and fun of the ongoing Arctic blast.
