My Story: A walk in the country had a surprising affect on Sandy’s career path.
Sandy Kavanagh
Sandy told his story when the BBC Bus visited Grantham. His life as a police officer came to an end following a walk in the Forest of Dean with his family. Sandy spend more than 18 years in the Metropolitan Police Force but seeing a derelict pub on the walk set him thinking about a change of career. He decided to leave the force, renovate the pub and become a publican. Sandy has had a couple more career changes since that decision, and he's glad he took that walk in the country.
