    Tidemark Edinburgh Fringe Experience 2004
    Friday 13 August 2004

It is such a rewarding experience entertaining the young, telling stories in a simple, but at the same time, educational way.

Their little minds are so open and their imagination has no bounds. Having said that though, one of the best bits has been building in the silly humour for the adults.

If parents have to sit through an hour and ten minutes of a children's show, the least we can do is write in some humour for them too.

Writing and performing in a children's show has been a real awakening. It has been such a joy to be part of 'Odysseus and the Really Freaky Monsters' this year.

Since the early first drafts of the script we've all had so much fun rehearsing that everyone in the company has been going around with silly grins on their faces all the time.

And this 'feel good' factor is in the performances as well. I have a permanent smile on my face in the wings watching the show and even though I've seen the show countless times, I still love to stand and watch Will Franklins' wonderfully comic Odysseus and the Goddesses as they drift on and off stage so ethereally, charming the children with their story.

We're already planning our children's show for 2005. If anyone has any ideas for a classic story or fairy tale, filled with villains, heroes and fairy magic, which would benefit from a modern, slightly irreverent re-telling for children four and over, please mail in!

I will be doing my first ever live performance at this years fringe of my interactive puppet show in Edinburgh this year, a mixture of popular and new puppets, i myself playing the part of host & compare Toots the mystical wizzard, my shows have been well recieved in the hospitals and am hoping they appeal to the general public.
