JOHNNY: -I'm Johnny.
JASMINE: -And I'm Jasmine.
NO SPEAKER: BOTH: And welcome to obstacle challenge!
JOHNNY: Competing today is the red team.
JASMINE: And boy are they in for a challenge.
JOHNNY: One player will have to climb, crawl and creep their way to victory.
JASMINE: All while blindfolded.
JOHNNY: - Blindfolded!
JASMINE: - That's right, Johnny.
JASMINE: The red team's chosen player, Mia,
JASMINE: will go through the obstacle course wearing a blindfold.
JASMINE: So she won't be able to see all the obstacles in her way.
JOHNNY: Well, she'll need some serious help from the rest of her team.
JASMINE: The obstacle challenge is about trust and teamwork.
JASMINE: She will be trusting her teammates and they will work together
JASMINE: to help to get her over, under or around the obstacle safely.
JOHNNY: Now that's what you call a challenge, Jasmine.
JOHNNY: But it sounds like great fun too.
JOHNNY: Maybe our viewers could try it for themselves afterwards.
JASMINE: Great idea, you can build your own obstacle course
JASMINE: either outside or perhaps in the school hall.
JASMINE: There are so many things you can use to create obstacles.
JOHNNY: For now you can practice crouching, jumping and stretching.
JASMINE: Those are the skills Mia will be using to get through the obstacle zone.
JOHNNY: Speaking of Mia, how is the red team getting on?
JASMINE: Looks like they're giving Mia lots of encouragement.
JOHNNY: That's very important, I'm sure she's glad to hear
JOHNNY: positive words from her teammates
JOHNNY: as wearing the blindfold can feel a bit strange.
JOHNNY: It's good to practice wearing it before the course.
JASMINE: Absolutely, practicing before you start will make it much easier
JASMINE: to get through the course.
JOHNNY: Okay, I can see the red team is ready.
JASMINE: Let the challenge begin, go!
JOHNNY: Looks like Mia will have to go under the first obstacle.
JASMINE: Her teammates have to make sure she doesn't bump her head.
JOHNNY: - Ouch, we wouldn't want that.
JASMINE: - Definitely not.
JASMINE: They're doing great guiding her.
JOHNNY: Everyone knows their role and they're working together as a team.
JASMINE: Now she's down on her hands and knees on advice of her teammates.
JASMINE: And is easily through.
JOHNNY: Remember, give your teammate plenty of instructions
JOHNNY: when you do your own obstacle challenge.
JASMINE: Looks like the red team is getting to the second obstacle.
JOHNNY: It's the wall, Mia will have no choice
JOHNNY: - but to go over it.
JASMINE: - You're right about that Jonny.
JASMINE: Her teammates have guided her to the wall
JASMINE: and now she's finding the top of the wall with her hands to get over it.
JOHNNY: Using your hands to feel out obstacles
JOHNNY: is a great strategy for a blindfolded player.
JASMINE: It is, close your eyes
JASMINE: and stretch up to practice feeling for the obstacles in front of you.
JASMINE: It's very hard to balance with your eyes closed
JASMINE: that's why we see Mia's teammates help her down from the wall.
JOHNNY: Okay, they've reached the final obstacle, the boulders.
JASMINE: Ooohh, no way to go under
JASMINE: and too tall to climb.
JOHNNY: One teammate will have to guide her around them by hand.
JASMINE: While her other teammate tells her
JASMINE: what to do as she makes her way around it.
JASMINE: And the red team has done it!
NO SPEAKER: They've done brilliantly!
JOHNNY: Remember to try it out yourself
JOHNNY: and think about where else you can play
JOHNNY: and what obstacles you can use.
JASMINE: Could you build a course in the school hall?
JOHNNY: Or outside.
JASMINE: Or even at home.
JASMINE: And remember you can try the obstacle challenge
JASMINE: without a blindfold to see how quickly you can do it.
JOHNNY: Wherever you choose to play obstacle challenge
JOHNNY: just remember to be safe.
JASMINE: - And have fun.
JOHNNY: - We'll see you next time on…
JOHNNY: BOTH: Obstacle challenge!
Commentators Johnny and Jasmine introduce a range of basic movements to help your class gain the skills they will need to work together and complete the ‘Obstacle Challenge’.
We join the red team in the arena as they attempt to navigate obstacles by crawling, climbing and weaving through them.
Trust and teamwork are essential to success in this challenge.
Will the red team be able to work together to complete the course?

Teacher Notes
Create your own obstacle course, either in the classroom, school hall or playground, as outlined in the film.
Split your class into two teams and blindfold one person in each team.
Those in the team who are not blindfolded are then responsible for directing the blindfolded player around the obstacles; until they get to the finishing point.
Swap over until everyone has had the opportunity to be a guide or complete the course.
