JOHNNY: Jonny and Jasmine here, welcome to Hybrid Sports.
JOHNNY: - All your favourite sports.
JASMINE: - But with a twist.
JOHNNY: Footgolf, badminton with books for rackets
JOHNNY: croquet with a football.
JASMINE: And today it's netball, without the nets.
JOHNNY: That's right, today's players will be playing a scoring zone version of netball.
JASMINE: Instead of scoring in the net
JASMINE: you score when one of your team members catches the ball
JASMINE: in the other team's scoring zone.
JOHNNY: And just to keep you on your toes
JOHNNY: today and today only we'll add in some quiz questions.
JOHNNY: When you see a Join In symbol get ready to move around the room
JOHNNY: when we ask you about team tactics.
JASMINE: - Stay alert!
JOHNNY: - Let's go to the arena.
JOHNNY: Today we've got the Falcons in red
JOHNNY: versus the Foxes in blue.
JASMINE: Foxes start with the ball, so they're attacking first.
JASMINE: Which means the Falcons are defending.
JOHNNY: They're off to a good start making many quick short passes.
JASMINE: Good spot Jonny, if you pass quickly
JASMINE: defenders have less time to get between you and the intended target.
JOHNNY: And it makes your opponents work harder too.
JASMINE: But you have to concentrate when doing things quickly.
JOHNNY: Too true Jasmine, If you're not focused
JOHNNY: making decisions quickly can lead to mistakes.
JASMINE: Ohhh, just like that!
JOHNNY: Yes, the Foxes really rushed that throw and paid for it.
JOHNNY: Now the Falcons get to go on the attack.
JASMINE: The Foxes defence is crowed and narrow.
JOHNNY: Let's pause there and ask viewers
JOHNNY: what's the best way to score against the defence?
JASMINE: If you think attacking through the middle, go to the right side of the room.
JOHNNY: Or for attacking along the wings or flanks go to the left side.
JASMINE: But you have to make up your mind quick.
JASMINE: Let's press play.
JASMINE: The Falcon player is attacking down the side-line.
JASMINE: Keeping the ball away from defenders.
JASMINE: And they score by attacking the edges!
JASMINE: It's always best to attack where there's least defence.
JOHNNY: You're right Jasmine, now the Foxes will have another try
JOHNNY: to reach the scoring zone.
JASMINE: They are making quick passes again.
JASMINE: So far so good.
JASMINE: The Falcons in red are surrounding the player with the ball
JASMINE: which is an aggressive strategy.
JASMINE: They're trying to force the Foxes into making a mistake
JASMINE: so they can get the ball back quickly.
JASMINE: The Foxes will have to think of a way around it
JASMINE: and soon!
JOHNNY: What can the Foxes do to defeat
JOHNNY: the strategy of surrounding their player?
JASMINE: If you think the Foxes should make short passes
JASMINE: keeping possession of the ball and wait for an opening,
JASMINE: go to the left wall.
JOHNNY: And if you think they should try a long pass
JOHNNY: and play potluck, go to the right wall.
JOHNNY: Right, let's press play.
JASMINE: I see a player going long.
JOHNNY: And here's the throw.
JASMINE: Ooohhh!
JOHNNY: But it's intercepted.
JASMINE: What a play by the Falcon's defence.
JOHNNY: Long passes work sometimes
JOHNNY: but usually they give the defence more time to make a play.
JASMINE: Yep, short passes and good teamwork
JASMINE: will pay off more often than not.
JOHNNY: Exactly, well that's the end of the first half here.
JASMINE: You can go try one of your favourite Hybrid Sports yourself.
JASMINE: You can even make one up but remember those tactical tips.
JOHNNY: See you next time.
