Wimbledon in security re-think
Karl Power spent 20 seconds on Centre Court

The All England Lawn Tennis Club has promised a review of security after two pranksters got onto Centre Court.

Dressed in full tennis gear, Karl Power and Tommy Dunn spent up to 20 seconds playing a mock game on the famous arena before jumping back into the crowd and evading capture.

"We treat this sort of thing very seriously," said a Wimbledon spokesman.

"It was extremely irresponsible. We will obviously be reviewing security procedures with all the relevant authorities to ascertain what happened."

Serial joker Power, 33, twice hit the headlines last year with similar pranks with Manchester United in Germany and the English cricket team at Headingley.

After lining up alongside the United players for a team photo before their Champions League clash with Bayern Munich, he ran on to pitch in full cricket gear during England's fourth Test with Australia.

"The game needed a smile and we achieved that," said Power.

The prank came just before British number one Tim Henman was due on Centre Court for his second round clash with Australia's Scott Draper.

There has not been such a security breach at Wimbledon since a female streaker ran onto Centre Court just before the start of the 1996 final between Richard Krajicek and MaliVai Washington.

Internal security at Wimbledon is carried out by Securicor.

A spokesman for Metropolitan Police said officers would not be pursuing the matter.
