A semi-final place at the Australian Open got Haas' 2002 season off to an ideal start. But the German, who has a reputation as an under-achiever, initially struggled to recapture a consistent winning formula as the season progressed. That changed in Rome at the Masters Series event where he reached the final against Andre Agassi, only to miss out to the former world number one. That defeat provided him with his only two dropped sets of that week, but he still rose to the world number two spot. Considered a fighter, he has yet to cause a stir at Roland Garros. |
