Moffett: One plan on the table
WRU Group Chief Executive David Moffett
Moffett will meet the clubs yet again on Monday
WRU group chief executive David Moffett underlined his commitment to reform at a press conference on Friday as the Welsh Premier clubs' plans fell apart.

He insisted that the only plan on the table at the moment is his proposal for four provinces next season and that the clubs need to come to a consensus if their views are to be considered.

Moffett will meet the clubs again on Monday before presenting final proposals to the Union board in a meeting scheduled for next Thursday.

He also insists that he and the WRU general committee have heard nothing of Mike Cuddy's claim that he is on the verge of buying Neath, who are owned by the Union's Gower Park organisation.

Cuddy says he has correspondence from the WRU concerning the deal.

Yesterday, the clubs claimed that they had unanimous agreement on their proposal for five clubs next season, but it is clear that they need more work on their plans.

Should they fail to sort things out, Moffett says he is prepared to bring Thursday's board meeting forward to Monday night.

The board will have to decide on one proposal to take to the Union's EGM on 23 February.

Only that body has the power to authorise the proposed changes to the Welsh game.

Despite the frustrations, Moffett says that this week has convinced him that he made the right decision in coming to the WRU and that he will see the job through.
