Farrell demands Lions rethink
Lions captain Andy Farrell expressed his bitter disappointment after the 64-10 loss to Australia
Farrell says jet lag was not a factor in the defeat
Great Britain skipper Andy Farrell has called for more preparation time should the Lions play another one-off Test on the other side of the world next year.

Britain suffered their worst ever defeat at the hands of Australia in Sydney on Friday.

The match - which finished 64-10 - was part of a long-term plan to revive international rugby league and is due to be followed by a whistle-stop trip to New Zealand in 2003.

But British rugby league bosses are coming under pressure to rethink the schedule and Farrell admits a longer rest would have benefited his squad.

The Wigan captain told the Daily Mail: "A number of issues have to be addressed as we return to Super League this week.

"One of them is preparation time for international games. I'm not looking for excuses and I don't think jet lag was a factor.

"It was difficult to get into a proper sleep pattern but most of the lads were fine after the first few days.

"But if, as planned, we do go to New Zealand for a one-off Test next year, it would help to have a weekend off beforehand.
