Waite gets Sinfield support
Kevin Sinfield goes on the charge for Leeds
Sinfield says David Waite will not quit

Kevin Sinfield has given his backing to under-fire Great Britain coach David Waite following the crushing Test loss in Australia.

Waite has been urged to resign by former Lions boss Maurice Bamford and ex-Great Britain captain Garry Schofield.

But Sinfield insists the Australian should remain in charge and says Britain will prove the critics wrong by beating New Zealand at the end of the year.

"David has done wonders for the side since he came in," Sinfield told BBC Sport Online.

"He works well with all the players and I believe he is the right man for the job.

"I certainly don't think he should quit - and I don't think he will because he is a fighter.

"Sure, we've got some lessons to learn but we will put things right against the Kiwis."

Sinfield says reaction to the 64-10 defeat in Sydney has been over the top and says criticism of Waite and captain Andy Farrell in particular has been unjust.

"Everybody goes wild after a defeat like that but it was a freak result," said the Leeds Rhinos player.

"David and Faz have take the brunt of the criticism which is unfair. We are a team and we should all take the blame."
