Farrell embarrassed by defeat
Danny Buderus
Danny Buderus scored one of Australia's 11 tries
Great Britain captain Andy Farrell admitted his side's 64-10 defeat at the hands of Australia had been an "embarrassing" experience.

The world champions scored 11 tries and were 34-0 ahead by half time, but Farrell refused to blame the fact that they had only six days to prepare for the Test.

I don't think I need a shower tonight - I haven't got dirty
Andrew Johns,
Australia captain
"We had prepared well, we're not using that as an excuse," he said.

"We just got beat by a team that blew us away. It was embarrassing at times."

It was Britain's heaviest ever Test defeat, and Farrell said the players were aware that they were making history as the tries kept coming.

"It was sinking in every time they scored a try," he said.

"We've got to learn from it. We've got New Zealand at the end of the year and we've got to try and make amends for this."

Coach David Waite could not hide his disappointment but found some encouragement from the closing stages.

"We have got to put our hands up and cop it on the chin," said Waite. "We were taught a football lesson.

"Defensively we were found wanting in the first 30 minutes and we were down to 12 and a half men towards the end. I was actually quite proud of the efforts."

I thought it would be a closer game
Chris Anderson,
Australia coach
Australia captain Andrew Johns rubbed salt in the wound by pointing out how easy the victory had been.

"I don't think I need a shower tonight," said Johns. "I haven't got dirty.

"It was a great win - to put 64 points on is amazing."

Johns had a magnificent game and his total of 20 points equalled an individual record set by legendary Australian centre Mick Cronin.

There were stars all over the pitch on the Australian side but substitute Willie Mason made a particularly big impact, scoring just moments after coming on.

"Willie Mason and Shane Webcke were outstanding, but everyone played to the best of their ability," said Johns.

"There were unbelievable passages of play where the ball was thrown around 20 times."

And Australia coach Chris Anderson said Great Britain brought the defeat on themselves by handing over possession too easily.

"I thought it would be a closer game," he said.

"But we had 23 sets in the first half and they had only eight. Against a team of this quality, you are going to get blown away."
