Doherty then finds himself in trouble when a foul gives Hendry a free ball brown, which he slots in. But Hendry then misses the green, which would probably have sealed victory.

Doherty does well to take his chance to pot it under pressure and from there he snatches the frame 74-41 to stay in touch.

Doherty loses the chance to compile a substantial break when he misses a black, allowing Hendry back in to do enough to move into the lead.

Doherty still has a chance of saving the frame but misses the penultimate red when attempting to escape from a snooker behind the yellow.

Hendry makes no mistake after that to move within one frame of victory.

Doherty gets the better of the first real tactical battle of the semi-final - much to his relief, as he reduces the deficit to two frames.
