| Wednesday, 29 May, 2002, 16:45 GMT 17:45 UK Notts claim comfortable win Former Ireland skipper McCallan hit 26 runs Nottinghamshire defeated Ireland by eight wickets in Wednesday's C&G Trophy game at Clontarf. The English county passed Ireland's target of 164 all out in the 37th over. England batsman Uzmah Afzaal hit 64 not out in Nottingham's total of 166 for 2. Earlier Ireland had claimed the wickets of Jason Gallion and Darren Bicknell. Gallion was clean bowled by Paul Mooney while on five while Bicknell was removed by Derek Heasley after hitting 46 runs. Earlier, a fine partnership between Derek Heasley and Kyle McCalIan had helped Ireland recover after a disappointing start. In new coach Adrian Birell's first competitive match in charge, Ireland slumped to 48-5 at Clontarf before the Ulster pair added 64 in a sixth wicket stand. Heasley eventually fell for 26 while Cliftonville skipper McCallan top-scored with 30.
